Research Group

The research group Numerical Analysis and its applications arises in November 2007 under the Andalusian Research Plan of the Junta de Andalucía (Spain). Currently 8 members make up the team, whose research has converged on the application of their diverse backgrounds to the field of numerical analysis. All of them are part of the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Granada. Its head office is in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Edificación, in the Campus Fuentenueva, and the reference is FQM359.

 Research Lines

The activity that the group develops is included in one of the following topics:

·           Numerical treatment of integral, differential and integro-differential equations.

·           Convex analysis and its applications. Minimax theorems, convex optimization and variational inequalities.

·           Primal and mixed variational formulations of elliptic problems.  Variational equations with constraints. Finite element                   methods and their applications.

·           Numerical methods for the solution of inverse problems applied to medicine, engineering or geology.

·           Biortogonal systems in Banach spaces: numerical algorithm design.

·           Optimization and weak compactness in Banach spaces.
